Real Podcasts. Real Outcomes. Three Production Stories from Our Studio.
We don't pitch hypotheticals. Every podcast we produce has a documented journey from initial concept through to audience traction. Below are three recent projects that illustrate how BrightCast Voice approaches different podcast formats, audiences, and production challenges.
The Challenge
Declan Forde had been recording informal conversations with maritime industry leaders on his phone for two years. He had 40+ hours of raw audio, no consistent format, no branding, and no distribution strategy. He approached BrightCast Voice with a question: "Is any of this usable?"
What We Did
We audited every hour of existing material. Roughly 14 hours contained usable conversation threads. We restructured those into a 26-episode first season with a consistent narrative arc — each episode exploring a different aspect of Ireland's relationship with the sea through personal stories.
Production involved noise reduction on field recordings, original music composition for the intro/outro, professional re-recording of host segments in our studio, and full mixing at broadcast standard. We built the RSS feed, wrote episode descriptions optimised for discoverability, and designed cover art that stood out at thumbnail scale.
"The team didn't just clean up my recordings. They found a story I didn't know I was telling."
— Declan Forde, Host
The Outcome
The Harbour Sessions launched across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts simultaneously. Within six weeks it entered the Apple Podcasts Top 50 in Ireland under the Society & Culture category. Episode 4, featuring a retired lighthouse keeper from Fastnet Rock, was picked up by RTÉ for a radio adaptation. Season 2 is currently in pre-production with us.
Untold Founders — A Startup Narrative Series
Short-form narrative • 12 episodes • Corporate commission
The Brief
A Dublin-based venture capital firm wanted branded content that didn't feel like branded content. They needed a podcast that would attract early-stage founders to their ecosystem without overt sales messaging. Their internal marketing team had attempted two podcast pilots that never made it past episode 3.
Our Approach
We proposed a narrative documentary format instead of the standard interview show they'd been attempting. Each 18-minute episode would follow one founder through a single pivotal decision — the moment they nearly quit, the deal that changed everything, the hire that saved the company. No host commentary. Just story.
We conducted 36 pre-interviews to select 12 founders with genuinely compelling turning points. Each episode was scripted from interview transcripts, then produced with archival audio, ambient recordings from the founders' workplaces, and a minimal original score.
Production stats: 36 pre-interviews conducted. 12 selected for production. Average edit ratio: 8:1 (8 hours of raw material per 1 hour of finished content). Total production timeline: 9 weeks. Post-production included three rounds of client review with documented revision tracking.
"Most agencies pitched us another talking-heads show. BrightCast pitched us something that actually made people feel something. Our pipeline inquiries increased 23% during the first season's run."
— Niamh Cassidy, Partner, Meridian Ventures
What These Cases Have in Common
Every project that comes through our studio is different in format, audience, and ambition. But the successful ones share three traits: a genuine reason to exist beyond vanity metrics, a willingness to invest in pre-production research, and trust in a production process that prioritises the listener's experience over the host's comfort zone.
We turn down roughly one in three inquiries — not because the ideas are bad, but because the timing, commitment level, or format expectations don't align with what produces lasting results. If you're reading these case studies and thinking "that's the level I want," you're probably a good fit.
The BrightCast Studio Pipeline
We don't follow a rigid step-by-step process because no two podcasts need the same treatment. Instead, we operate through a pipeline with defined stages that flex depending on your project type.
| Pipeline Stage | What Happens | Typical Duration | Your Involvement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovery Call | We listen to your idea, assess feasibility, and determine if we're the right studio. No pitch decks. Just a conversation. | 30–45 min | High — it's your vision |
| Concept Architecture | Format selection, episode structure, audience targeting, naming, and positioning strategy. | 1–2 weeks | Collaborative |
| Pre-Production | Guest research, script frameworks, recording schedules, equipment setup (remote or in-studio). | 1–3 weeks | Moderate |
| Recording | In-studio sessions at our East Randolph facility, or remote recording with real-time monitoring from our end. | Varies | High — you're on mic |
| Post-Production | Editing, noise reduction, mixing, music/SFX, mastering to platform specs (LUFS targeting for Spotify, Apple, etc.). | 3–5 days per episode | Review & approve |
| Distribution & Launch | RSS configuration, platform submission, metadata optimisation, launch strategy, and first-week promotion plan. | 1 week | Light — we handle logistics |
| Ongoing Support | Weekly/fortnightly production cycles, analytics review, format evolution, audience growth tactics. | Continuous | As needed |
We master all episodes to -16 LUFS for Apple Podcasts and -14 LUFS for Spotify, with separate masters when needed. Bit depth: 24-bit during production, delivered as 16-bit/44.1kHz MP3 at 128kbps CBR or higher depending on platform requirements.
Capability Matrix
Not every project needs every service. Here's what we can do — and what each capability actually involves.
| Capability | Scope | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Full-Service Production | Concept through distribution. We handle everything from format design to weekly episode delivery. | New podcasters, brands, organisations launching their first show |
| Post-Production Only | You record, we edit, mix, master, and deliver. Includes noise reduction, levelling, and music integration. | Experienced hosts who want professional sound without a full team |
| Podcast Strategy | Format consulting, audience research, competitive analysis, naming, positioning. No production — just strategy. | Companies exploring podcasting but not ready to commit to production |
| Audio Restoration | Salvaging existing recordings with noise, distortion, or quality issues. Spectral editing and reconstruction. | Anyone sitting on unusable recordings they've invested time in |
| Distribution Management | RSS setup, platform submissions, metadata optimisation, analytics configuration, and ongoing feed management. | Self-produced shows that need professional distribution infrastructure |
| Remote Recording Setup | Equipment specification, shipping, configuration, and ongoing technical support for remote hosts. | Hosts who can't travel to our studio regularly |
Is BrightCast Right for You?
We're selective about the projects we take on. This isn't gatekeeping — it's about ensuring we can deliver the quality documented in the case studies above. Here's an honest fit assessment:
✓ We're a good fit if you...
- Have a clear reason your podcast should exist
- Are willing to invest in pre-production planning
- Can commit to a consistent recording schedule
- Value sound quality and listener experience
- Want a production partner, not just an editor
- Are building something intended to last beyond 10 episodes
✗ We're probably not the right fit if you...
- Need a single episode turned around in 48 hours
- Want the cheapest possible option regardless of quality
- Aren't sure if you actually want to do a podcast
- Need a podcast primarily as a sales funnel with no editorial value
- Expect viral success from episode one
The studio sits at 22765 Kemmer Valleys in East Randolph, County Cork. We built it specifically for voice recording and podcast production — not repurposed from a music studio. The acoustic treatment is optimised for speech intelligibility, and our monitoring chain is calibrated for how podcasts are actually consumed: earbuds, car speakers, laptop speakers.
Remote sessions are conducted via dedicated low-latency connections with real-time monitoring from our control room. We can hear what you hear, and we manage levels, backup recording, and quality checks live during your session.

Key technical detail: 60% of the original field recordings had wind noise above 40dB. We used spectral editing rather than simple noise gates, preserving the natural harbour ambience that became a signature element of the show's sound design.
